The United States of America has decided to donate $ 1.3 million (US $ 2 billion) to Sri Lanka to support health care workers by strengthening the COVID 19 prevention program.
The money will be provided to the country through the US Agency for International Development, with financial assistance for detection and surveillance, response and preparedness, technical expertise, communication of risk, prevention of infection and control of the spread of the virus. The US embassy in Sri Lanka said.
The United States has also assisted Sri Lanka in preparing laboratory systems for testing and enhancing COVID 19 testing in Sri Lanka.
The Ambassador pointed out that as a Sri Lankan ally, the United States will extend this assistance and further strengthen the cooperation between the two countries.
