The Sri Lankan rupee (LKR) has appreciated to LKR 195.78 against the US dollar today (15 April).
As per the exchange rates recorded by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) the selling price of the rupee reported at LKR 195.78 while the buying price fell at LKR 188.51 against the US dollar today(15 April).
A economic specialist revealed that imports into Sri Lanka, reported a lower rate within this coronavirus pandemic. Accordingly Sri Lanka rupees are expected to appreciate.
The Central Bank said the decision will complement the measures taken to ease market conditions, and enable the domestic financial market to provide further relief to businesses and individuals affected by the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions placed to contain its spread within the country.
